PDP Caucus In House Of Reps Endorses Jonathan For Second Term, Tambuwal Absent.

House Leader, Mulikat Adeola-Akande, told reporters on Tuesday that lawmakers endorsed President Jonathan at a meeting between the Legislators, President Jonathan and some state governors elected on the party’s platform.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, was, however, absent at the meeting attended by his Deputy, Emeka Ihedioha at the new Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The House Leader was not specific about the President’s response to the endorsement, neither could she answer the question concerning the Speaker’s absence from the meeting.Security issues were discussed at the meeting and the government was commended for efforts it is making to restore peace in the northeast.

Members of both chambers of the National Assembly had earlier been conveyed to the venue of the meeting in Coaster buses with the President of the Senate, David Mark, leading his colleagues to the meeting.

However, Senators left early as it became obvious that they were invited to the meeting in error with the understanding that a date for the President’s meeting with them would be communicated to them later.

The governors who attended the meeting included those of Abia, Akwa Ibom, Enugu, Ebonyi, Jigawa, Bayelsa, Benue, Kebbi, Bauchi, Katsina, Gombe, Cross River and Delta.

About four deputy governors also attended the meeting.
