Ebola: Spouses of Late Ebola Victims Contract Disease – Health Minister

On Wednesday, there were conflicting reports that 5 people had contracted the Ebola virus in Nigeria. The health minister Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu denied the report, but the commissioner for health in Lagos Dr. Jide Idris said it was true.

Today, Chukwu told reporters at a press briefing in Abuja that there are 2 new cases of the disease from secondary contacts of the Liberian-American primary victim Patrick Sawyer.

He said he cannot be sure of the complete eradication.

According to Channels TV, they are the spouses of two late Ebola victims. They are currently being treated in Lagos.

Chukwu said the public should not panic, and that “the battle is not over but we have done very well.”
