Ex-Beauty Queen Omowunmi Akinnifesi loses dad

CHIEF DR EMMANUEL OLULANA AKINNIFESI:

Chief Dr Olulana Akinnifesi was a PhD Degree and Yale University, Connecticut, U.S.A masters degree holder in Economics. He was a former Director at the Central Bank of Nigeria and was Head Statistics and Econometrics. He received many awards, which included fifteen years of meritorious service certificate awarded by CBN in December 1992. While he was at Central Bank he became a Diplomat and was appointed Chief Executive/ Executive secretary, West African Clearing House, Freetown Sierra Leone, an International Organisation. There he represented Nigeria and the interest of 15 other West African Countries and 10 Central Banks from 1991-1993.

Dr Akinnnifesi was also part time Lecturer at the University of Lagos where he taught Statistics, Econometrics and Monetary Economics to Msc/PhD students of the department of Economics. He set up Emmason Consulting LTD and Emmason Investment LTD, a consulting and business management company where he put to use his acquired experiences over the years in International Banking Monetary Cooperation, Trade and Financial Transactions, top level Negotiation Missions to International Organisation such as UNCTAD, UNID, FEC and ECOWAS.

Dr Akinnifesi was a Fellow of Institute of Management Consultants of Nigeria, Institute of Financial Management and Nigeria Statistical Association. He was the National Secretary of the Nigerian Statistical Association from 1981-1985 and later President from 1989-1991. He was also the Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Society (Lagos Chapter) from 1987-1989. He was Vice-President International Association of Official Statistics from 1991-1993. He had a passion for World travel and was a member of Island club, Ikoyi club and FRCN club Lagos. 
He died age 74 after a brief illness.
