Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state says he goes to the beer parlour every Friday to meet with the commoners in his state. Fayose said this today in Abuja while explaining to newsmen the concept of the 'stomach infrastructure' he initiated in his state, saying it doesn't only mean sharing of food and money to the people.. 

"I go to beer parlour on Friday to stay with the common men there. Governance is not church;  it is about diverse characters and you must relate with them as such. Christmas is coming. Gombe bomb blast update: Three suspects arrested, 25 dead bodies counted

                     
Three suspects have been arrested by the police in connection with the bomb blast that rocked Gombe Line Motor Park in Gombe town this morning.

The blast, which DailyPost sources say killed at least 25 people and injured many others, destroyed over 12 vehicles belonging to Gomble Line.

The Gombe State Commissioner of Police, Abdullahi Kudu Nma told reporters the command has arrested three people in connection with the attack.

The bomb went off at about 9.30 am this morning; barely 15 minutes after a military patrol team left the area.

Gombe has relatively been peaceful and safe from the constant attacks of Boko Haram insurgents.

A retired staff of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) at Agbado Station in Ogun State simply identified as Peters was on Thursday crushed to death by a passenger train. 

According to an eyewitness the deceased fell in the median of two coaches, an incident which has become regular on the rail track in Lagos, according to NAN reports. 

PDP ‘mad’ at Deputy Speaker for privately hosting Tambuwal

  There are ongoing reports that President Goodluck Jonathan and the leadership of the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) are unhappy with the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, for privately hosting Speaker- Aminu Tambuwal barely 24 hours after the Speaker defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday.

Tambuwal was said to have been received at the Deputy Speaker’s guest house on Pope John Paul Street, off Gana Street, Maitama, Abuja, few hours after he joined some members of APC in the House to attend the mini-national convention of the APC. The visit to Ihedioha’s home, which was initially intended to be a private one for Tambuwal, was later stormed by other members of the lower chamber, including some PDP members,.

Eye witnesses say the bomb was planted by a man who came and dropped his bag in a Kano line bus and left. Anti-government protesters in Burkina Faso today set their National parliament ablaze following a decision by members of parliament to review the country's constitution to allow President Blaise Compaore extend his 27-year rule. The parliament members were due to vote on a change on their constitution which would allow the sitting president, Blaise Compaore - who took power in a coup in 1987 - to stand for re-election again next year, when he was due to stand down.

The 14-year-old Nigerian girl, Wasila Tasi’u, accused of murdering her 35-year-old husband by putting rat poison in his food played dumb in court yesterday.

She failed to utter a word in court during her trial at the Gezawa High Court, Kano.

Prosecutors at the High Court in Gezawa, filed an amended complaint that charged Tasi’u with one count of murder over the killing of Umar Sani two weeks after their April wedding in the village of Unguwar Yansoro.

Jonathan accepts endorsement, picks nomination form

  President Goodluck Jonathan has formally accepted his endorsement as the sole presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as he picked his expression of interest and nomination forms this afternoon at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja.

The president was accompanied to the Wadata Housel, headquarters of the PDP by Vice President, Namadi Sambo, PDP governors and members of the National Assembly.

This has laid to rest months of speculation about the willingness of the President to seek a second term in office.

UNIZIK undergraduate missing after clubbing with unknown man

                          
A 300-Level English Language and Literature student of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State, Annabel Nzubechukwu Edeh, went missing six weeks ago after visiting a night club, off the school campus.

According to Oluchukwu Igwe, a 500 level Chemical Engineering student of the school, Annabel had visited Lounge 24, a night club in Awka, the Anambra State capital, with six of her friends, on the 17th of September, only for the others to return without her the next morning.

Her friends claimed Annabel left at midnight with a guy she met at the club and they haven’t heard from her since then.

FG withdraws Tambuwal’s security aides, Police IG explains its action

                   
The Federal Government, early Thursday withdrew the security details attached to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, in obvious response to the Speaker’s defection from the ruling party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.

The Speaker, after months of speculation, announced to his colleagues on Tuesday that he had defected to the APC. This has drawn the ire of the ruling party, PDP, which has called on him to vacate his seat as Speaker.

Police confirm rescue of abducted Petroleum Minister’s sister

                  
The Rivers Police Command on Wednesday confirmed the rescue of Mrs Osiya Agama, a sister of the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Agama was abducted by gunmen in Port Harcourt two weeks ago.

The Public Relations Officer of the command,  DSP Ahmad Muhammad, said in Port Harcourt that Agama was rescued by security operatives on Wednesday.

He said Agama was rescued during a joint operation by the police, the military and SSS, adding that two suspects had been arrested.

There was big fear yesterday at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos after a Nigerian, who survived Ebola Virus Disease in Sierra Leone arrived aboard Royal Air Maroc.

The man, whose identity was given as Mr. Theophilus Onnakhinon, was flown from Sierra Leone by the airline while his younger brother, Mr. Chinedu Eroka was said to have absconded from the Sierra Leonean authorities.

Mechanic reportedly kidnaps 13-year-old girl, rapes her for five days

                       

A 28-year-old mechanic, Abdulkadir Salihu, has been remanded in a prison custody by a Lokoja senior magistrate’s court for reportedly abducting and raping a 13-year-old girl.

The court’s senior magistrate, Mrs Joyce Abdulmalik gave the order, Wednesday, in her verdict on arraignment of the accused in Lokoja, Kogi State

Salihu was arraigned on a two-count charge of kidnapping and rape, being offences contrary to Sections 273 and 283 of the Penal Code Law.

Husband caught on camera handing over cash to hitman he hired to kill his bride

I'm sure most of you have heard about the case...but let me give you a bit of the background. In 2010, newlywed British national Shrien Dewani and his 28 year old wife Anni Dewani were in South Africa for their honeymoon and while riding in taxi in Cape Town on Nov. 13th, Anni was shot dead by two men who hijacked the taxi. The men involved in the murder were later caught and they shockingly confessed that the new husband had hired them to attack them in the car and kill his wife.

The wealthy businessman who had since left South Africa back to the UK, was extradited back to South Africa to face murder charges. Of course Shrien denied having a hand in his wife's death but today a footage of him handing money to the hitman he allegedly hired to kill his bride, taxi driver,  Zola Tongo, who is serving 18 years in prison for his role, was played at his murder trial.

This is the dilemma that two Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members are allegedly facing, according to Punch.

The two aspirants involved in this matter are Abdul-Jhalil Tafawa-Balewa (son of Nigeria’s First Republic Prime Minister, the late Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa) and Akasoba Duke-Abiola (one of the widows of the late MKO Abiola).

Tafawa-Balewa is said to have paid the stipulated N20 million as nomination fee and another N2 million for the “expression of interest” form into PDP’s Zenith bank account, with number 1012436478.

Tambuwal officially dumps PDP for APC

                          
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has finally defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Tambuwal, in a short message he personally read at the end of plenary today, said he was leaving the PDP due to the political developments in his home state of Sokoto.

Tambuwal’s defection brought to an end months of speculations that he would join the APC. He came close to defection last week when he attended an APC stakeholders meeting in Sokoto

He is reported to be eyeing the Sokoto State governorship seat as the position was zoned to his senatorial district of Sokoto South.

The announcement of defection came at the end of today’s plenary after the House had adjourned to December 3 to allow members of all political parties participate in their parties’ primaries.

Happier times: Perla Avina, 30, was traveling home with her husband, Mando Lopez, in East Oakland, California when they got into 'some type of confrontation' with another driver. Above, Mrs Avina and Mr Lopez.                       

 A mother of four has been shot dead in an alleged road rage attack as her husband drove her home from a California supermarket. 

Perla Avina, 30, was traveling in a black 1998 Toyota Camry with her partner, Mando Lopez, when they got into 'some type of confrontation' with another driver in East Oakland. 

The unidentified motorist then allegedly fired at the vehicle, causing a bullet to pierce the windscreen on the passenger side and strike Ms Avina in the face.

Gunmen kill Julius Berger’s German staff, abduct another

  Tragedy struck construction giant, Julius Berger Monday, when gunmen numbering about four opened fire on vehicles carrying two German nationals, who are staff of the company in Sagamu, Ogun State, killing one and abducting another.

According to a spokeswoman for the company, the two Germans were travelling in different vehicles without security when the incident occurred.

Ogun State Police Command spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi told AFP that “About four armed men emerged from the bush near Sagamu (in Ogun state) on Friday morning and attacked the men. A bullet hit one German and he was confirmed dead on arrival at the hospital, while the hoodlums abducted another.”

S/Africa & Orlando Pirates goalkeeper shot dead in his girlfriend's house

                           
Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates number one goalkeeper and captain Senzo Meyiwa was shot dead yesterday October 26th at his girlfriend's house just a few hours after the photo above was taken.

According to reports, Meyiwa, 27, who played a match for Orlando Pirates on Saturday night, was at his girlfriend's house, SA pop star Kelly Khumalo (pictured right), when three men entered the home in Vosloorus, Johannesburg to rob them. Meyiwa ended up getting shot in the chest. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead. No one else in the house was hurt.

Even though he was dating Kelly openly, Meyiwa was married. Until his death he was married to a lady named Mandisa Mkhize and they had two children. He also had a child with Kelly, a baby girl named Aphelele who was born this year. Sad. May his soul rest in peace, amen.
