The entire residents of Amufu in Ojapo community, Okpokwu Local government area of Benue State were in tears today as they bade farewell to thier illustrious son, Pa. Michael Agbo Idibia.
Pa. Idibia, a renowned agricuturalist, who lost battle to cancer few months back, was buried today in his hometown amid tears and cheers.

Nigerian man breaks record, rides to South Africa from Lagos on motorbike

             
A Nigerian and chemical Engineer, Ogbonnaya Kanu, also known as Foto Dadi, has broken a record as the first man to ride a motorcycle from Lagos to South Africa.
Kanu who is the first and returning Vice President of the Association of Nigerian Motorcycle Clubs, has ridden motorcycles to 26 countries of the world. In 23 of the trips, he traveled with his own Nigerian-registered motorcycle.

A man has revealed he has been injected with the Ebola virus on purpose in a bid to fight the deadly disease. And according to Mirror.co.uk, Peter Hubbard said he hopes the small risk he is taking could help create a vaccine to prevent further outbreaks of the disease, which has claimed thousands of lives in west Africa. Speaking from his apartment in Alexandria, Virginia, Mr Hubbard, a consultant who specialises in natural gas and peer markets, said:

Subscribers to the telecommunications service provider, MTN Nigeria will, as from Friday (today), have the opportunity to recharge their phones for as low as N10. The Chief Marketing Officer of MTN, Bayo Adekanmbi, revealed this in a statement on Thursday. 

According to Adekambi, the initiative, to be launched in Kano, was to ensure that no Nigerian was shut out of the values that the network offers.

The Cable reports that the source of the explosion was a bomb, and the location was First Bank in Azare, Bauchi.

The President, Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has moved 20 spots from his earlier position of the 43rd richest person in the world to the 23rd position, thereby consolidating his earlier rating as the richest man in Africa, according to Forbes magazine.

The businessman, who has interests in cement, sugar, flour and beverages, is now worth $25bn and is also the first black man to be named among the 25 richest people in the world, according to the magazine.

CAF nominates Ahmed Musa and Vincent Enyeama for African Footballer of the Year award

                            
Two Super Eagles players Vincent Enyeama and Ahmed Musa have both been shortlisted for the African footballer of the year award.

Twenty-five players have been shortlisted by the Confederation of African Football(CAF) for the best player in 2014.

CAF said that players were nominated, taking into account their performances for both national teams and their clubs.

He lives on a farm, and his official car is a 1987 Volkswagen Beetle. He donates 90% of his monthly salary to charity. President of Uruguay, Jose Mujica, is not your average president.

It is commonplace to see some presidents of countries living lavish lifestyles, and in some extreme cases, looting their countries’ finances for personal gain. But not Mujica.

He is commonly known as the world’s “poorest” president because of his austere lifestyle.

Mujica rejected the luxurious presidential residence the government provided for him and instead opted to live on his wife’s farm located on a dirt road outside the country’s capital. They have no domestic workers – they do all the farm work by themselves. The only staff they have are two police officers.

In 2010, his annual personal wealth declaration – mandatory for officials in Uruguay – was $1,800, the value of his Beetle.

Army frees 42 Boko Haram suspects, gives them N100,000 each

A total of forty-two Boko Haram suspects were yesterday freed by the army authorities of the 7 Division, Nigerian Army in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital and handed over to Governor Kashim Shettima.
The army also gave each of the freed suspects N100,000 to resettle themselves.
Three of the released suspects are Chad, Burkina Faso and Cameroon nationals.
They will be repatriated immediately by the Nigerian Immigration Services (NIS) to their countries.

Women in politics are more reliable than Men - Obasanjo

             
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Wednesday said that women in politics are more reliable than men. 

Obasanjo made the disclosure while receiving the national executive and members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, at his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The former President said, 

"One of the best journalists that ever served me was a woman, and that was the late Mrs Oluremi Oyo. In politics, women are more reliable than men. When a woman says she is with you, you can really take it that she is with you.But if a man tells you he is with you and you catch him in another meeting, he will tell you it is politics. It should not be so.
When a politician’s words cannot be believed, then you are turning politics into another thing. A politician must be a man or woman of honour that believes in morality", Obasanjo added.

The embattled Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, on Wednesday advised President Goodluck Jonathan to resign from office for running “a system that does not have the interest of the country at heart”.
Addressing supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ilorin, Kwara State, during the formal declaration of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for a second term, the Speaker said should the president fail to do so, Nigerian voters should vote him out in the February presidential poll.

EFCC arraigns ex-assistant director for N1.6bn pension fraud

    
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned a former Assistant Director, Pension Department, Office of the Head of Service of the Federation of Nigeria, Phina Chidi, before Justice Gabriel Kolawole of a Federal High Court for allegedly laundering N1.6bn pension funds.


Two other accused persons, Franklin Nwankwo and Pam Investment Properties, were arraigned alongside Chidi, on 15 counts of obtaining by false pretences and money laundering.

Boko Haram financier gets 10-year jail term

Justice for financiers of Boko Haram may have begun as one of such persons was yesterday sentenced to ten years imprisonment with hard labour by a Federal High Court in Lagos.
Though details of the trial are still sketchy as the proceedings were conducted in secret, the Boko Haram financier was one of the four suspects arraigned before Justice Saliu Saidu by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Simon Peter Olara developed an erection which stayed for 8 days after he had sex with Christine Aboth, the 23-year-old wife of TV technician, Jaffar Wambede. 
Wambede’s wife started the affair with Olara in June after a disagreement with her husband, Kenya Today reports.

Army arrest 5 military commanders for abandoning Mubi to Boko Haram

Five or six military commanders have been arrested and detained by the army after they abandoned, withdrew from Mubi, Mararaba, Michika, Madagali, and Vimtim communities when Boko Haram men attacked the areas last week, allowing the insurgents to take over some areas.
