Ebola: Remaining six contacts of nurse in Enugu now free

 

Enugu State Commissioner of Health, Dr George Eze, on Monday said the remaining six persons who had contact with the nurse that treated the late Liberian-American, Mr. Patrick Sawyer, in Enugu, are now free of suspected infection with the Ebola disease.

Several persons were placed under surveillance in Enugu after the nurse, a staff of First Consultants Hospital who was involved in treating the index case, travelled from Lagos to the Coal City. Continue

Brother & sister arrested after 'having sex 3 times near church after watching The Notebook'

Chris Buckner, 20 (pictured left) and her 25 year old brother Timothy Savoy (pictured right) have been arrested after being accused of having sex with each other three times while parked outside a church after watching romantic movie, The Notebook, Savannah Morning News reports.

According to reports, police found the siblings early Wednesday morning outside the Countryside Baptist Church in Georgia, while investigating reports of a prowler at 4.30am. The police didn't even know they were related until they were booked.

The police say Chris and Tim admitted to having sex inside a tractor trailer after watching the film on Tuesday morning. They have both been charged with incest, aggravated sodomy, and prowling.

Ebola: Rivers government still searching for 50 ‘high risk’ Ebola suspects – Commissioner

The Rivers State government has said that 60 persons out of the 200 primary and secondary contacts of the Ebola Virus Disease in Port Harcourt are yet to be located.

The government said three persons, comprising of a pharmacist, doctor, and a female patient, have been quarantined after they came in contact with Ikechukwu Enemuo, a physician who died of Ebola Virus Disease in the state.

“I have been telling you before now that almost 200 persons have been line-traced. Out of this number, we are still to be in touch with about 60 of them,” said Sampson Parker, the Commissioner for Health. Continue

Police inspector dies while fighting wife

A police inspector, attached to a division in Apapa, Lagos, Inspector Danjuma Daniel, on Thursday afternoon died during a fight with his wife.

Ebola: Health Minister to meet state Commissioners as virus spreads

The Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu, has scheduled an emergency meeting with all health commissioners in Nigeria, Monday, amid renewed concerns over the spread of Ebola especially among health care workers.

Another doctor tested positive to the virus on Sunday, Rivers State health ministry said.

The Port Harcourt-based physician is the wife of Ikechukwu Enemuo, the doctor who died of Ebola the oil-rich city. Continue..

 Wife of Enugu State governor, Mrs. Clara Chime, who, last year, vacated the Governor’s Lodge, where she lived with Governor Sullivan Chime after alleging she was forcefully confined in the Government House, has apologized for her actions.

In a letter sent out to the press, she revealed that she was willingly making the apology to her husband and the entire Enugu women, having reviewed the actions that led to her leaving the state late last year.

She further revealed that Chime is still her husband, urging Enugu women to support her husband in any political move he may have in mind.

Five Die After Eating Dog Meat In Cross River

Five people have been confirmed dead in Cross River state, after eating dog meat. The incident happened last Friday in Uchenyim Village, Wanikade, North Ukelle.

According to Ugbem Onawo, a resident of the village, the dog ate chicken eggs laced with gamalin 20 insecticide, after which, it fell ill. When it was was about to die the owner hurriedly killed it and made a meal out of it, which he ate with his two children and two neigbours . Continue

Boko Haram Invades Bama, Meets Resistance From Nigerian Troops

 

Boko Haram militants have invaded Bama, the second largest city in Borno state with the aim of taking over the town, but residents said that Nigerian troops in city have resisted the terrorists leading to a huge fire fight.

Several civilians including the Emir of Bama have already fled to the state capital Maiduguri to avoid being caught in the crossfire. Eyewitnesses said that the sect arrived the vicinity of Bama early today and began firing mortars, RPGs and hurling grenades into the city.


The battle was still raging as at the time of publishing this report.

Bama is a strategic city with over 500,000 inhabitants. If the sect captures Bama with all the military hardware in the city, then it just days away from capturing Maiduguri which less than 40 miles from Bama.

Ebola: Three new suspected cases in Port Harcourt

Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu on Monday, confirmed that a total of three new Ebola cases has been recorded in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Last week, Chukwu confirmed story that a doctor, Iyke Enemuo died in Port Harcourt after treating an ECOWAS employee, Olu-Ibukun Koye, who disregarded government warning and travelled to Rivers State after contracting Ebola from the index case, Patrick Sawyer. Continue

Footballer Emmanuel Emenike in N30m land dispute with Enugu state Govt

Nigerian star striker Emmanuel Emenike is currently at war with the Enugu State Government over 13 plots of land worth N30 million which he bought to build a sports academy in Enugu according to a report from AfricanFootball.

According to the report, soldiers have invaded the property in Enugu and have prevented any work on it, a development that hasn't gone down well with the footballer. Emenike said he bought the 13 plots of land after the World Cup in Brazil through a special assistant to the Enugu State Governor, Frank Ugwunweze, who handed all documents concerning the land in Emenike's name to the striker.

Widow of dead Port Harcourt doctor infected with Ebola moved to Lagos

The infected widow of Dr Iyke Enemoah, the Port Harcourt based doctor who died on Friday August 22nd from Ebola Virus Disease in Port Harcourt Rivers state has been moved to Lagos for proper isolation and treatment. Her 3-months old baby is among the 160 people placed under surveillance in Port Harcourt.

Speaking to newsmen yesterday August 29th in Port Harcourt, the state Commissioner for Health, Sampson Parker, said most of those placed under surveillance at the Port Harcourt Isolation center are medical doctors, nurses and patients Dr Enemoah interacted with at his Samsteel Clinic at Rumuokoro, as well as the Green Hart Hospital where he died.

Dr Enemoah passed away at the Green Hart Hospital after been infected with the deadly virus from an ECOWAS diplomat, Olubukun Koye, who he secretly treated at a hotel in Port Harcourt.

Meanwhile it’s been discovered that the hotel is Mandate Gardens Hotel in Rumunokoro area in Obio/Akpor LGA of Rivers State. People have been advised to avoid the hotel for the time being

Australian Hostage Negotiator Accuses Former Borno Governor & Other Politicians of Funding Boko Haram

 In a recent interview with Arise News TV, Australian hostage negotiator, Stephen Davis, who was hired by the Nigerian government some months back to help negotiate with Boko Haram members to facilitate the release of abducted Chibok girls, mentioned the name of former Borno state Governor, Alimodu Sheriff as a sponsor of the terrorist group, Boko Haram. He also said that an unnamed past Chief of Army Staff who was sacked by Pres. Jonathan was also a sponsor of the group.
